Armstrong Western LLC conducts equipment auctions from our 12.5-acre yard at 1216 W Simplot Blvd in Caldwell, Idaho. If you farm, ranch or contract anywhere in the Treasure Valley or the rest of southwest Idaho, a southwest Idaho equipment auction with us can go two ways. You can haul your equipment to the Caldwell yard for one of our open consignment auctions, or we can conduct an in-place online auction: the equipment stays at your location and bidders from across the US, Canada and Mexico bid online.

Every auction has no buyer’s premium. Buyers pay the winning bid, plus sales tax where it applies. Nothing more.

Consign at our Caldwell, Idaho yard

Most of our auctions are held at our Caldwell facility. Our yard sales are multi-seller open consignment auctions, so a single tractor can sell in the same auction as a full fleet. You don’t need a retirement-sized lineup to consign.

What the yard is set up for

  • Forklifts and wheel loaders, including loaders with specially designed “cherry-picker” booms for large, heavy items.
  • A bi-level loading dock, so you can drive equipment straight on and off your trailer.
  • Room for volume. Our 2026 Large Annual Spring Auction sold 561 lots, and the 2026 Large Annual June Auction sold 379 lots.

Armstrong Western has conducted online equipment auctions since 2009. Before that, we served the area as an open marketplace using the live auction method, going back to the 1980s. See our auction services for how yard consignment and in-place online auctions work.

In-place online auctions across the Treasure Valley

Hauling doesn’t always pencil out. There may be too many pieces to move, or freight may cost too much. Give us a call, and we’ll help you decide whether your equipment should sell in place or go into an upcoming consignment auction at the yard.

How to consign, step by step

  1. Send your details. Use our auction consignor tool, or call AJ at (208) 591-0118. Include year, make, model, serial number or VIN, hours or mileage, condition, known issues and recent repairs.
  2. Add photos. The tool takes up to 12 files. Shoot all four corners, plus the hour meter or odometer, interior, tires, engine, undercarriage and dipstick. Maintenance paperwork helps too.
  3. Tell us where it is. Put the equipment’s location in the notes, along with who the seller check should be made payable to and where to mail it.
  4. Pick haul-in or in-place. We’ll confirm the sale and whether it should come to the Caldwell yard or sell online from your location.
  5. Bidding opens online. Your lots get marketed and listed, and they close on the sale date.

Getting your equipment to Caldwell

Need a hauler, tires or a mechanic before sale day? Our local truckers, tire shops and mechanics list is a good place to start. Armstrong Western is not affiliated with those providers.

Only have a couple of items? It doesn’t always make sense to haul them in. In some cases we can come to you to get pictures and videos, or we can walk you through the photos and details we need to list your items in our next auction.

Who bids on southwest Idaho equipment

Your equipment goes in front of bidders from across the US, Canada and Mexico. They bid online 24 hours a day, from a PC at the office or a phone in the tractor cab. Here is how we reach them:

  • Direct email to thousands of bidders who have opted in
  • Newspaper and print advertising
  • Virtual Drive Through videos, so bidders can see how equipment performs before they make the trip to preview
  • Social media on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube

Our marketing has produced bidder-to-lot ratios as high as 41:1. Buyers register on the Armstrong Western bidding platform, open a lot and place a maximum bid.

No buyer’s premium, ever. Many bidders skip auctions that add a buyer’s premium, and the ones who do bid factor it into their price. With no premium, the bid is the bid. Read why no buyer’s premium means more for sellers.

Idaho title basics for sellers

If you live in Idaho, the title has to be in your name to sell a titled vehicle at auction. Title questions go to David Scheuffele at (208) 392-7588. Details are in our auction FAQ.
